  • Sons of Pericles Join Distinguished Gathering Honoring Prime Minister Mitsotakis

    On Wednesday, September 24, Supreme President Basili Ronstadt had the honor of attending the fourth annual Oli Mazi  luncheon hosted by The Hellenic Initiative at the Union League Club in New York City. The invitation-only luncheon was sponsored by twenty-eight prominent Greek American organizations, including the Order of AHEPA and the Daughters of Penelope. Ronstadt with PM Mitsotakis The reception was held in honor of Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who is in the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly, where he will deliver a speech on Friday. Supreme President Ronstadt had the opportunity to greet Prime Minister Mitsotakis and briefly discuss the Sons of Pericles and the upcoming Centennial Celebration in 2026. During this conversation, Ronstadt presented the Prime Minister with a limited-edition Sons of Pericles Centennial Pin. The Supreme President also spoke about the growth of the Sons of Pericles in Greece and expressed his enthusiasm for further expansion. Prominent Greek Americans John Calamos, C. Dean Metropoulos, Nick Gage, Paulette Poulos, and Nicholas Mitropoulos (posthumously) were honored by the Prime Minister at the event and recognized for their achievements and contributions to the Greek-American community. The Sons of Pericles were grateful to be included in such a distinguished gathering honoring Prime Minister Mitsotakis. Supreme President Ronstadt expressed his appreciation to AHEPA Supreme President E. Chris Kaitson for making his attendance possible and noted how meaningful it was for the Sons of Pericles to take part in this important occasion.

  • AHEPA Family Celebrates PSP Alec Economakis

    The 2024-25 SOP Supreme Lodge: (L-R) George Kalyvas, Basili Ronstadt, Alec Economakis, George Antonellis, George T. Horiates This weekend, members of the AHEPA Family came from all over North America to celebrate Sons of Pericles Past Supreme President Alec Economakis and his two terms served. Guests traveled to Ocean City, Maryland to celebrate with a Testimonial Dinner at the Aloft Ocean City hotel. The weekend included a day at the beach and nights out at two of Ocean City's most famous beach clubs as well. Supreme President Basili Ronstadt and Past Supreme President Alec Economakis Throughout his two terms as Supreme President, Brother Alec was a constant source of support to every branch of the AHEPA Family tree, and that was reflected in the words of the many people who spoke about their time serving with him or how his work had affected them. The evening began with a warm welcome from the testimonial committee before Supreme President Basili Ronstadt, the event's Master of Ceremonies, took over and began the night's program. MOA PGP Maria Ana Pantelous Maids of Athena Past Grand President Maria Ana Pantelous presented Brother Alec with a gold olive branch to represent virtues of the Goddess Athena, peace, victory, and unity. PGP Maria Ana pointed out that these were three qualities that the SOP had been lucky to have in a leader before praising the efforts of PSP Alec in the unification of both youth orders of the AHEPA Family. Following this presentation, District 10 Past District Governor James Thomas, District Governor Othon Economopoulos, and District Lieutenant Governor Merek Vincent presented Alec with an award for his years of service and dedication to the Order. After dinner, the speaking program began with speeches from representatives of Pythagoras Chapter 9 (Washington, DC) of the Sons of Pericles, Arthur Dedoulis and Leonidas Tsirigotis. Both brothers spoke of Alec's commitment to the Sons, his heritage, and his church, and cited him as the reason they were both so involved in the organization. District 10 in District 3! The Maids of Athena Grand Lodge presented Brother Alec with a football jersey from Florida State University, Alec's alma mater. Both jerseys bore the number 82, as Brother Alec is the 82nd Supreme President of the Sons of Pericles. Sons of Pericles Past Supreme President Ryan Marinos read letters from MOA PGP Ally Tsenekos and DOP PGP Marianthi Treppiedi, who both served alongside Alec, and then the crowd watched videos from DOP PGP Margaret Dritsas and AHEPA Supreme Treasurer Marshall Monsell III that praised Alec for a job well done. PSP Ryan also spoke at length about working with Alec as his vice President and stated the importance of having dedicated members like Alec in the SOP. AHEPA Supreme Advisor to the SOP, Ted Vittas highlighted Alec's work in preparation for 2026's SOP Centennial Celebration in Manchester, New Hampshire, as well as many of Alec's accomplishments in the SOP before turning the microphone over to the Testimonial Committee. The testimonial committee briefly spoke about Alec's dedication and wanting to support his project before presenting him with a check for $1000 to cover a Heritage level donation for the SOP Centennial, along with a polished box for his SOP 100 challenge coin.   • Basili Ronstadt Elected Supreme President

His election follows a spirited and competitive meeting marked by multiple contested races. Crediting PSP Alec Economakis and the many Past Supreme Presidents for laying the foundation he now stands on, Ronstadt committed to building upon their legacy with energy, purpose, and a forward-thinking approach.   “As we honor the past, it is up to us to shape the future,” said Ronstadt. “We now step into our centennial year with pride, purpose, and promise. Together we will strengthen our bond, serve our community, and honor our heritage.”   Brother Basili outlined his pledge to: Lead with transparency, collaboration, and open communication. Listen to every member of the AHEPA Family and uphold our shared values. Reconnect with alumni and Past Officers to harness their wisdom and support. Reestablish the Rising Sons program to empower the next generation of leaders. Reignite our dedication to Hellenism by strengthening the presence of the Sons of Pericles in local communities.   As part of the centennial celebration and in a show of continued service, Ronstadt also announced the Supreme Lodge’s commitment of $6,000 to the AHEPA Service Dogs for Warriors program to fund a service dog for a veteran in need. In honor of the upcoming SOP Centennial in Manchester, New Hampshire, the dog will be named "Chester." The Order of AHEPA, Daughters of Penelope, and Maids of Athena held their elections as well, and the newly elected Supreme President Chris Kaitson, Grand President Antoinette Marousis Zachariades, and Grand President Stephanie Owens were also installed into their offices. We look forward to working cohesively with all three of the other AHEPA Family Orders in the upcoming year.

  • SOP Centennial Committee Releases Limited Edition Challenge Coins

    The Sons of Pericles Centennial Committee released a set of 100 limited edition Sons of Pericles Challenge Coins this past week at AHEPA's 103rd Annual Supreme Convention. Only 100 of these coins were made, numbered 1 - 100, and will be made available for sale for a suggested donation of $100. All proceeds will go towards the Sons of Pericles Centennial. Challenge Coin #100 was auctioned at the convention, and ultimately won by AHEPA Supreme President E. Chris Kaitson of Houston, Texas. Challenge Coin #1 will be immortalized in the Sons of Pericles exhibit in the Millyard Museum in Manchester, New Hampshire once enough funds are raised to create it. Challenge Coin #26, representing 1926, the year the Sons of Pericles were founded, will be auctioned off at our Centennial Gala in 2026. Stay tuned for an announcement regarding the sale of these coins and instructions on selecting the number you want!

  • Successful Leadership Conference in Washington DC

    The Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena held their annual Leadership Conference in Washington DC September 20-22nd, 2024. Beginning with a meet and greet at Zorba's Greek Cafe, Sons from across North America then attended business meetings on Saturday. They toured the National Zoo then attended a Rooftop Social with the Maids of Athena, AHEPA and the Daughters of Penelope.   Thank you to all those who attended and made the weekend superb! Thank you also to our Maids of Athena, AHEPA and Daughters of Penelope partners! Sons attended the AHEPA Business Meetings and addressed the AHEPA floor. Friday Night Meet & Greet at Zorba's Cafe.   • Supreme Convention 2024 in Music City

    The 2024 Supreme Convention was held July 10-14 in Nashville Tennessee. Events included a reception and dinner at the Parthenon on July 11 and the Hellenic History Tournament Finals. On Friday, July 12, the Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena met and deliberated.   • SOP Reactivate Constantinople Ch. # 15 in New Haven, CT

    The New Haven Sons of Pericles have reactivated Chapter #15 with the name CONSTANTINOPLE and initiated 10 Sons. After 45 dormant years, the New Haven SOP is making its return with the endorsement of AHEPA Chapter 98. In attendance during the ceremony was SOP Supreme Governor Alec Economakis , who presided over the initiation ceremony. May the Sons of Pericles Chapter #15 support and promote Hellenism, service, and brotherhood for many years to come in New Haven and beyond!
